Chaucer moves to The Scalpel

Chaucer, the specialty (re)insurance group, is delighted to announce that it has relocated to The Scalpel, 52 Lime Street, from its current location of 30 Fenchurch Street.

The (re)insurer, which has just under 500 employees in London, will occupy levels 6, 7 and 8 and 44,000 square feet of new office space. The relocation marks a significant milestone for Chaucer and an important part of their development as a leading global underwriting group.

John Fowle, CEO of Chaucer, commented,

“This is a hugely exciting move for us. Providing our London team and trading partners with a new, modern, and eco-friendly space in which we can work, communicate and collaborate is key. Our people have been incredibly resilient and flexible since the Covid-19 pandemic emerged and as we return to EC3, our new offices are designed to encourage interaction and provide an environment that flexes to each person and each team’s needs.”

“Chaucer has ambitious plans to cement its global reputation as a leading (re)insurance specialist. Establishing our new headquarters marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the firm.”

The Scalpel was chosen because it best matched Chaucer’s requirements, including its convenience for our brokers, excellent location, and the amenities of the surrounding area. The building’s strong green credentials, which includes sustainable building materials and infrastructure were also a key factor.

Chaucer would like to sincerely thank the teams at Savills, Scott Brownrigg, Parkeray Showcase and PTS, for their dedication, hard work and expertise in delivering the project.
